I will put a little downer on this story and I felt that that people should no this for their own safety. We had a Shrine club working one of the local WalMart's and a little old man that is over 70 was walking to talk to another Shriner with his bucket on his arm. A young man walked up behind him and jerked the bucket off of his arm and took of running. He had a car waiting at the start of one the aisles of the parking lot. He jumped in and they took off. The older gentlemen had taken off running trying to catch him and he fell and scratched himself up a little. He will be fine. There were two witnesses close enough to see it and one of them took a picture of the license plate with their cell phone. We are pretty sure that security cameras got it all on tape. The vehicle has an APB out on the license plate but had not been seen last I heard. How low is it to steal money from a charity in broad daylight from a 70 something man? I hope that guys karma is screwed up over this..... He will get his.
ANyway, I just wanted to post how excited I was with how much money we raised today. Most of you know how much Rick and I are involved with the Shrine and we are a year and half into a five year committment for Rick to eventually be the Potentate for the Shrine. Next year we will be over all activities to raise money for the hospitals----------------gala, golf tournament, and street corner collections. I may begging some of you for your help in the next 12 months. The next year we are in charge of the circus........ alot of work but so much fun and very rewarding. Meet some of our patients and they will absolutely steal your hearts.
Thanks for letting me share.......we are all like family and just wanted to tell each of you what a great day it was.
