I think I met this young man at the game the other night. He'd just bought a Canon EOS 40D with a nice telephoto lens. Not fair......I'm having to
save my pennies for one........maybe by 2010, eh?
My dream camera..........and I'm accepting donations towards it's purchase. When you see me next, just stuff a couple of Cs in my pocket.........bless you. ![]() ![]()

The player from Memphis who sat next to me was open mouthed and then cracked up. The Brahmas players who seem to have permanent seating in the private box
cracked up at first, now they just smile. Still think the club should put up a 303 Rowdies sign. Good post, John.

Had a couple of new first timers Saturday night and another one is gonna ask his wife if he can... then he will be down to sit by us. At one time in the old
barn we did 47. What a night!
Best in Naked Hockey "We're rude, we're crude, we're socially unexceptable! We're three oh three ROWDIES! WOO HOOO! " We raised $1,400 for a players wife several years ago. You could pay us to take it off or leave it on... Westy

Well even though the article or blog is gone. I did read it and I commend our 303ers and the Hooter dancers. Even though the winning plays make the game they
bring a fun experience. I'm glad we have people that don't care what people think of them, then what kind of game would it be? So for the pleasantly
plump ladies (morbidly obese seems too rude and over exaggerated) and the handsome heavyweights i cheer you on. It keeps the arena from being quiet and they
keep us entertain. I didn't laugh I was too busy rooting them on.... Maybe others can learn to let their hair down like those two group of people do have
fun... LET'S GO BRAHMAS FANS, LET'S GO!

To be honest and always above board, you are 100% correct.
However, if I took the time to do that for every thing I post, or every thing others post, we wouldn't have much to read. And, the other side of that is I'm always flattered when some one repeats what's posted here. At least, I was honest and upfront enough to tell you why it was deleted. I could have deleted it without saying anything..............and you'd have never known the difference.

John I definitely side with you on that! I appreciate that you post articles about the Brahmas. It lets us know how others think and talk of the Brahmas
besides "us". Some are cheers and some are jeers but they make for interesting reads and some good discussions. But if people don't want their
words to be read, they shouldn't write them on the internet. You weren't trying to take the words and make them your own or even be derrogatory towards
the person that wrote them. Someone wrote something about the Brahmas and you posted it like you always do. And like you said, you could have taken it off
without saying a word and you know what John, we wouldn't have questioned you about it, because we like ya that much(wink).

"if people don't want their words to be read, they shouldn't write them on the internet."
My thoughts also. I assume this person put this up on their blog. That means the blogger wants people to read it and comment on it. I can almost guarantee the blogger got more response from the posting on dot net than they did on their blog. |

Not saying that cross-posting is totally wrong... just that the proper way would have been to:
1) Start off with your comments about finding the story, article, what-ever, giving credit to the author, and then 2) Include a short teaser (opening paragraph, etc) and include something like a more link pointing to the complete what-ever. Example Found this at blah-blah-blah Hockey in Fort Worth: A Cultural Reading Last night I went to a hockey game. In Fort Worth. Who knew there was minor league hockey in Fort Worth? I didn't. I went, and it was fun . . . yet odd . . . oddly fun. I don't know much about hockey. But I understand the rules of hockey are similar to the laws of soccer. I figured I could figure it out. Mostly, I did and I had a good time. ==> For the complete story, see blah-blah-blah Billy |

The Internet... | ||
|
In some ways we might say the Internet is writing it's way of life....it's rules.....the dos and don'ts.
For instance owners put water marks on photographs so they can't be copied in a "clean format". You'll eventually find some photographs and text are not copyable at all. Not being an expert here, I know a flash file cannot be copied. So, easily, all you have to do is reformat any picture or text into a flash file and publish it on the Internet. It stays only where you put it............. I think... Now, watch some 12 year old tell me how they can copy it.........don't you know it. |

I've been following this thread closely today as it was my blog that the post was copied from. Billy has it right: I should have been credited with writing
the words and taking the photographs. To publish my work in its entirety (in its complete entirety, links and all) and to not credit me in any way is to steal
from me. To be copying and pasting information from any source and posting it here-- posting it here without attribution to the original source-- is
stealing. People write on and for the web to make their voices heard, and I would have welcomed your comments on my blog to my post. However, I wasn't
given that opportunity since my work was posted here without even my knowledge.
Had I been contacted by this site owner, I would have agreed to his using my work (the text and the photos) with only a few slight modifications. However, I wasn't contacted. About any of it. My blog is not strictly copyrighted; it has a Creative Commons license. This means that I am happy to share my work as long as I'm credited for the work and as long as the work is not modified in any way. None of this happened. Now, had the site owner contacted me, I would have agreed to the use of my work. I would have, however, taken out the links to my colleagues and other academic professionals (those people have nothing to do with hockey and how have more interest in the cultural studies aspect of that original post). I would have also taken out some personal reflections on my first hockey game . . . personal reflections that have more to do with my academic work than it has to do with the sport of hockey. But again, that should have been my choice. --Billie (oh, and I'm female . . . not male, as many posters have assumed) |

Billie, you are welcome to post here any time. We hope you continue to watch the Brahmas play hockey and become as big a fan as most on this board are. Thanks
for your explanation.

I did have a chance to read your article or blog. I really don't think John was trying to take any credit away or give any credit to anyone. I know we
all are guilty of cutting and pasting things that we should or should not be pasting. IMO because John posted that I did visit your site and in any normal
circumstance I would of never found or looked for that site. I hope you continue to post on this board and continue to come to the games. Who knows maybe
you will dance for your dinner and get the ultimate rush those ladies had (ladies if you read this post, ya'll are AWESOME), I know there are probably
thousands of people who wish they had the courage to just be there self and let there hair down, I enjoy ya'll and I know many others enjoy ya'll at
the games. My next goal is to get rowdy with the 303ers.....you guys ROCK and make the game so enjoyable.....Both groups keep up the work.
I look forward to checking out your site in the future.... |

Dang,
This little Al Bore Internet thing is getting real puzzling to an old codger who was an "academic" in the 1930's. Communication then was with a Big Chief Tablet and a No. 2 pencil. I was known to "cut and paste' at times from the smart little cutie at the next desk, mostly during tests. Now we have something called Blogging going on. The only reason for it would be for ordinary folks to get their thoughts out for other people to read. Wrong. Now I learn that it is not the intellectual content they want, it is the "credit" that is important. Now "credits" are what is in the screen when you walk out the theater. Come to think of it they might be better than some of the movies made today. Now cut and paste is about the only thing I have got the hang of so far, and if it becomes immoral, illegal, or fattening I guess we old timers will just have to go back to the rocking chair. Would someone come over and help me get this old rocker started. I LOVE EVERYONE!!!!!!!!! Some are kind of hard to like. Hurry up, this thing is harder to start than my old T model was. GO BRAHMAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
