Texas Brahmas general manager Mike Barack said police officers weren't trying to restrain him after a post-game brawl Monday night at the Budweiser Events Center.

Barack was in a heated exchange with Colorado Eagles trainer Tony Deynzer after players from both teams fought on the ice following the Brahmas' 5-4 win over the Eagles at the Budweiser Events Center.

Barack was seen arguing with Deynzer outside the Eagles' locker room, surrounded by arena security and police officers. Reporters waiting to be admitted to the locker rooms for postgame interviews and several Eagles staffers witnessed the argument and agreed at the time that Barack was prevented by officers from pursuing Deynzer as he walked toward the Colorado locker room.

However, Barack said today that a police officer offered to go with him toward the Colorado locker room following the fights. He was trying to get video of the game from the home team to see what happened to trigger the post-game brawling.

"I was not restrained," Barack said. "A policeman asked me if I wanted him to come with me, and I asked him to come. It was a verbal altercation."

Central Hockey League officials reviewed videotape of the post-game melee and issued 21 penalties more than an hour after the game had ended. There was no word yet this afternoon about possible sanctions or suspensions from the league office, although it appeared likely some action would be taken.

The Eagles and Brahmas meet again in Game 7 of the Northern Conference finals at 7:05 p.m. Wednesday at the Budweiser Events Center, with the winner advancing to the CHL finals.

Colorado's Fraser Filipic, Jay Birnie, Greg Pankewicz and Les Borsheim all received penalties in the official box score, as did Texas' Mike Vellinga, Jordan Cameron, Mark Carragher, Greg McConnell and Blair Manning.

Birnie was charged with five penalties, including three 10-minute misconduct infractions. Pankewicz also received three 10-minute misconducts, while Filipic and Borsheim each received two.

Texas' Carragher received two misconducts, while Vellinga, McConnell and Manning each re-ceived one.

Texas' Chris Thompson, who Colorado coach Chris Stewart and Pankewicz said instigated the postgame incident by firing the puck into an empty net after the game had ended, was taken from the Bud Center by ambulance.

Barack said he was looking for the videotape Monday night when he and Deynzer exchanged words.

"Based on the incidents that took place at the conclusion of the game, I was asked by our coach (Dan Wildfong) to receive a copy as soon as possible of the game tape or tapes," Barack said. "I saw a Colorado representative bringing the tape to the room (Colorado's locker room), and I asked to see it or get a copy as soon as possible. It was ignored, and then security accompanied me toward the Colorado person, and then Tony Deynzer basically cursed me out and called me every name in the book, which is unacceptable."

Barack said the postgame incidents were unfortunate and detracted from what he felt was an entertaining hockey game.

"I felt that we won the game fair and square, and it's unfortunate to see all the incidents that took place after the game, considering it was a wonderful hockey game," he said. "It's discouraging to see it end the way it ended."

I don't think there's anyway they can suspend Manning. His was a bench penalty for "Coach game misconduct" for Dan. Pantywaist got one for Stewart also... Plus 3 more misconducts. If the League doesn't send Panty home for the season, the Brahmas will happily do it tomorrow night! If the League hands out suspensions it will be what those thugs deserve. I just hate that the Beagles will use that as an excuse when we spank them tomorrow night!
