Someone has to be doing something right to survive in this market for as long as the Brahmas have. Don't believe any of their predecessors lasted as long
as the Brahmas. A more accurate picture of the Brahmas struggles with FW can be found in the Fort Worth Weekly. Perhaps someone has a link to that story.

Yes back in the day they did have large turn outs. We might just get that rival going again when the new team moves to ALLEN. Dallas VS FT Worth all over
again. Looking forward to it.....Go Brahmas!!!!

As has been said on here several times, it looks like Allen will not have a CHL team.

Nothing since July 7, 2007 and they have tax payer issues. I don't think Global will finance another one. There has to be tax payer dollars...
Best in I'll wait to buy my seats hockey Westy Won't be FW v Dallas or Tarrant v Dallas too far to drive kids...

The article is a year old. Later reports say CHL hockey in Allen is not likely. Why do you say "like it or not"? I never said I didn't want
hockey there.

Call it what you like FT WORTH VS DALLAS OR TARRENT VS DALLAS either way it is going to make for some good hockey that's for sure. You could compare this
to the civil war.....
You think we have a rival now with the MUDBUGS wait till we have an across town enemy. They don't want to see a BULL get mad....So what do you think they will call their team? The Allen fairies sound good... |

How many people would support them for the next year or two knowing they move to Allen?

Not sure the team will move or not, but I would guess that part of the deal that Global sold was a franchise... this would indicate that either it is a new
franchise or someone in Allen knows what team will move there.... keep in mind there are multiple franchises in mothballs right now which makes alot more sense
to me...
If Global puts an arena in Mansfield like once rumored, then I would think the Brahmas are an option, but doubt Allen... What about the owners though? They also own the arena now, do you think they would want to move the team to an arena they would have to pay for? Drew |

What if... | ||

Even though the Trazerra's are a part of the ownership now, we all know Stuart is the majority....probably by a long shot. That much said, Stuart can do
as Stuart pleases. The best business plan has to say that you cannot stay at a limited 2300 seat arena forever. No CHL hopeful ever wanted a too small arena.
Even when the Tornado left BlueLine, I think they stepped into a larger arena in Frisco, right? So, here you got a team lower on the food chain that can
accompany a larger attendance than us. These two business plans are starkly contrasting.
It was the Trazerra's and NYTEX that got us going last year. It was so good to be back and especially with young Dan and Forbes, nobody........nobody, nobody is talking about a move. You are just not going to hear it from anyone here. However, if you ever tapped the line between Mike and Stuart, you might, every once in a while, hear a "what if". In any business, the "what if" always has to be digested. |

On John's other topic.......CHL REPORT: 2 teams out, 3 in
On the surface, the potential loss of two franchises for next season appears to put the Central Hockey League on shaky ground. First, the arrival of an American Hockey League franchise pretty much pushed the Austin Ice Bats out of town. Then, Corpus Christi owner Doug Frank put the Rayz up for sale and unless something happens soon, the Rayz could become the second team to go dark next season. Despite those two situations in south Texas, the league is adding an expansion team in Rapid City, S.D., with two more franchises slated to come on board in 2009. CHL senior vice president of operations Duane Lewis said he feels no shaky ground. So with that said it looks on the surface that our boys will stay in Tarrant County. Mansfield I dont think so.... It's to far south and not centraly located. Mid cities and Fort Worth would be better place to put a new arena. Your new money towns such as Colleyville, Southlake, Keller and Trophy Club would not go south. Your getting growth in Haslet, Justin and with the possiblities of a new mall going in around Roanok. A new arena would get more support staying North.

Good observations slap. You can rule out Keller. Citizens there wouldn't pass a bond election for a new library so they for sure won't spend money for an "events" center. Mansfield is probably out and even if they build the Brahmas would have a large say in it. Trophy Club has no space for one, Southlake and Colleyville real estate is too high, and Roanoke has already said they don't want one. Even if Allen breaks ground this summer, it would be near impossible to have a team playing by the 09-10 season. All of this is just speculation anyway and a as pbsean said, some more bull to waste time. |
