Hearing rumors around town in Lubbock that Chad Woolard got screwed by Sims and won't be coming back? Any truth to that?
Let me be - I'm busy living happily ever after!

Rumors about a disgruntled Chad Woollard have been floating around for quite some time.
If Chad just decides to up-and-leave the B's, the Club will have won the prize for lack of forward thinking. There were some here who called to trade Chad when he was worth something. But, what do fans know? Thanks for your rumor, and I'll bet a lot of fans here thought that was coming... What would that say about Sim's trading skills if he chased Chad off? ...and if there's any truth to it, reverse your rumor and it becomes Chad gets rid of Sims..... Waiting for the truth............ |

Not a rumor | ||

Well, edited my post. For those that read it....it is true. For those that missed it....long bad story.... and Chad will not be back. Promises made to him were not kept and he was given no choice but to walk away. He will be missed in the Brahmas uniform. I only hope that wherever he ends up, that he gets that championship that he has worked so hard for.

Gina,
Thanks for the details that could be made public right now. Chad, Thanks for the 5 yrs you were here and the time that you put in during some tough times. Regardless of what everyone's opinion of your play is, your committment to the team was shown by staying each year when IMHO you could have moved on and found greener pastures during some very dark times in FW. Now on to business.... IF all we get out of this situation is a press release from another league's team saying they have signed Chad Woollard then this will be the biggest mistake and screwup since I have been watching Brahmas hockey. I am talking over all the crap that TL pulled, the terrible trades, lack of foresight, etc. This has got to take the cake. Please someone answer this question for me... How do you let your all time leading scorer and the #3 goal scorer in the league last season just walk away and get nothing in return? No contact from the coach to the leading scorer until the end of June? Folks, the Brahmas last game was March 20th or TWO MONTHS ago. If Al didn't want him back, then you TRADE him before he says he is leaving. If Al wanted him back, then you SIGN him before he signs somewhere else. It is really simple folks. Someone dropped the ball on this one and the fans deserve better. There is absolutely NO excuse for this blunder. I am not saying that I care one way or the other if he was back (that is Al's bed to lie in), but good grief he is the highest valued player we have the rights to and we get ZERO! We should be discussing the 2-3 players that we got back in a trade instead of wondering what team Chad is going to now... Drew |

Quote: Considering this to be the truth and even though the Brahmas business doesn't have to be fan knowledge, the lack of Club voices is eerie. It's like...somebody speak up...please. Otherwise...the decision to push Chad out was...unanimous. Even if Mike is in Europe...long distance is cheap... Where's Stuart? Who will Sims talk to? Could anyone in management be surprised with this developement? |

Rumor | ||

If true, then letting Chad get away with zilch in return is enough to make me want to throw up. Al may have had good reason to get rid of Chad but for free??!! The club badly needs to do some serious damage control immediately!

Just more proof.......... | ||

Just more proof that this is nothing but a second rate, poorly run ( to say the least) Mickey Mouse of an organization. They have a non extistant owner who evidently lives by the phrase "out of sight out of mind", a GM that is overwhelmed in his duties of trying to please everyone he can, and evidently a coach who thinks 40 goal scorers grow somewhere in West Texas. Yep I definitely agree "its gonna be a long season" and perhaps "the last season" as well. Look out, oh Cowtown just might be a basketball city before you know it. For the GM and the owner to sit by and let this happen is beyond ridiculous. What do you think, think the "owner" has the guts to get rid of Al and get another coach? Oh wait that means that he would have to pay two coaches, and that means he'd need, what, another 1,000 season ticket holders to afford that. Isnt that how it works..........

...and how quickly we forget.
"Coach signs" press release...I'm not going to go back and look it up.....but Stuart made it perfectly clear to Sims..."This season is the one to produce or you're outta here!" This is epic guys. It's what some have been waiting a long time for. Sims (our coach) is in complete control of Brahmas hockey operations. Period! Period! Period! His first major act...run Woolly off. Sims or the Brahmas have not lost the right to trade Woolly. They just ran him out of his apartment. Ticked him off! No more than that! Why are Mike and Stuart not interviening? Because they gave complete control to Sims. Given Woolly has all the accolades/stats posted in this thread, but just between you and me, Sims has a problem with him. Sims thoughts may be, "If I'm going to build a winning team here and keep my job, I'd best start fresh with no weights around my neck. Some here saw problems with Woolly's performance. How silly to think Sims didn't see it also. This may be our best shot at it folks. For once, it appears we have a coach running the show instead of the front office and ownership. This will be the year to see just how good Al Sims really is. Some players have recently come on this board and bad mouthed Sims. Let's put that in some perspective. Sims is an NHLer and the players are CHLers. A dramatic difference in playing ability. From Sims perspective, he might not like the way any of them play. He obviously is trying to get the best he can. From what you've just read about may be a clue that this year truely could be about change...the way the coach wants it. I say for once they've got their heads screwed on right. |

Re: I know the answer | ||

TL had complete control as well.........how'd that work out for ya?........Woollards not the only one gone, there are a lot of players that said they would not be back if Sims was (and unfortunately, most of them were our top players as well)........John, just wondering, do you think our "owner" is a good owner? .......Before you answer that, think about the last 5 years and how bad they were........would a good owner allow them to happen?..........I think not........But thats just my opinion.....I know some will be happy Chad is gone, for they will have nobody to yell at between periods, or maybe theyll just find another victim........Anyway, lets see teams like Wichita sign their complete first line and other teams have done the same meanwhile the Brahmas have now lost their top player, and their other top players have vowed not to return, what a way to start the off season!!!!!!!!!!!!!...........Whens tip-off?
