I'm sure there will be several responses to this post, which is great, but just remember how different the game is behind the scene.

Another long season.............. |

Brahmas will not be a playoff team again next year, only positive aquisition so far is Sterling. Maybe if Sims took some notes from Laredos coach, the brahmas could be a great franchise. Rudy is respected by his players, odviously, respect goes a long way. Brahmas went from being the best team in the league in the 1st 20 games, to ending the last 20 with the worst record in the league. Everyone in the organization looks at the overall record, which did improve. Big mistake. There was a reason why the Brahmas sank. Coaching, bottom line. Thats what makes and breaks teams at the AA level, players that want to play for there coach.

A hint the more of the obvious...
Quote: I am not blasting this poster. I really like new folks posting. Some of what they say is what we all saw last year, the obvious. There seems to be a hint of being an insider either knowledgeable about Laredo or maybe here. Maybe not but if you know more about, "the game behind the scenes", let us know don't just tease. Cold Country

It was 19 this morning, Westy. River is still very high. Snowed yesterday, 77 this afternoon. Forecast is for more of the same. Minorprovet knows of what he speaks. Bad chemistry in the tunnel last season. Nothing to indicate it will be any different this season.

Recruiting | ||
|
"I started recruiting players for this season on the day after our 2004-2005 season ended. So far, we've got two players signed whom I feel can help us win. I'm getting very close on several others, and I anticipate more signings in the immediate future,"
Coach Sims ............................................................................. Rehired June 9. Where are the signings? What's up with Wooley, Bastien, or even Max Bull? Did we lose a chance at landing any San Angelo players? All these postings about expansion, foldings, etc, but does any of that bring talent to the Brahmas? Are we too impatient or do we already know what's ahead in 2005-200? When the Booster Club President threatens to take her hockey watching elsewhere,then folks there are more problems than we realize. |

Re: Recruiting | ||

Sorry Gary, I am not president of the booster club any longer as of the May meeting. Nothing to do with the team.... Rick's Shrine activities are just taking alot of our time these days. Thought the club should have someone that could dedicate their time to it. We have two new joint Presidents. Vic K. and Sherry are the new presidents......
So, now I am free to voice my opinions......But you are right....if this coming season brings more of the same, I don't know where my sports dollars will be spent. Have voiced the same with the office. Gina E. <img src="http://members.aol.com/jenstars4645/bc.jpg" width="420" height="120">

Re: Recruiting | ||

Many of the early signers last year signed on if you will remember because they were promised support to win at least a playoff spot. They were tired of playing on a team that had continued to lose. When asked and I did, each said the only way they would be back was if they were actually given a chance to win.
Good recruiting brought a couple of players. Fate gave us Brad for a few games and that was it. In Texas we call it a "flash in the pan". For John the term comes from taking old time pictures in the dark, thus the "flash". The pan was where the powder was placed. Another interpretation has to do with a flash fire in the frying pan. Either way it means a quick burst of excitement having little result or meaning. You can't even tell in happened after the fact. What I saw last year was that followed by the usual slide starting around Christmas. Our players know this drill to a man. Many quit when they feel it coming. Others just forget the game, grab the puck, and pad the stats. What I guess I am saying is I don't think many of them that you would want really want to come back. Pickings are slim among those you would think should make the team better. Call it bad humours, bad karma, or just bad feelings, the team has lots to over come. Re: Another long season..............

Ok, the management ont he Brahmas is completely in the dark as to what goes on in the dressing room. There is a reason SIms went from coaching in the "show" to the CHL. Anybody that has played for him will tell you how two faced he really is. I would be VERY surprised if more than a few players from last year came back. Once again, it wasn't that the Brahmas weren't good enough to be a playoff team, because everyone saw how good they could be, it was that nobody wanted to play for him. Thats why the last half of the year was a complete joke.
As far is recruiting goes, it's the city the Brahmas play in and the weather, that get players to the FWCC. Do you think a guy like Lundbohm will come back?? He's been on championship teams at every level and he was praying everyday that Milwaukee would call him up for the year. We'll see who comes back and who signs, so far Sterling (great goalie) and Brand, who couldn't be slower. Take care |
