Apparently the management thinks he is that edge player, or just convenient. Good enough to play, score, ride the team bus but not good enough to attend practice...

Chad amazes me. He must have the constitution of a tank...and armor a foot thick. Do you remember the late cowboy movies when the Indians shoot a quiver full of arrows into the guy and he just refuses to die? I look at him and just say, "God, this guy loves to play here." OK, I don't doubt if he ever just left Fort Worth it'd be over for him. Maybe? Who knows?
I just feel bad about using a guy like that. It must be demoralizing to some extent. It'd have to be... I think I've seen it in his eyes when I passed by him in a very earnest conversation with Sean. Maybe you're right Badteam. Maybe he ought to tell 'em to buck up and adios. It would force another player to step up and who knows what that would bring. |

There's always another view... perhaps there is an agreement between Mr. Brandimore and management... kind of a "no contest" clause in some employee contracts.

Re: Brandimore | ||

Brandimore's addition to this club is not measurable by stats. Those stats aren't bad though...10 games, 2 goals and 1 assist...he added another goal tonight so far....
He is a selfless player that is willing to go on and off the waiver wire in order to give the team the ability to see how others are going to work out. The Brahmas have only played 14 games going into tonight and he has played in 10 of those, so even though he has been waived a few times he has only missed 4 games! After tonight Scharff will only have played in one more game than Brandimore. Tell me why this would make a guy leave?? He is evidently needed for the role he is playing. I don't know what his personal status is but maybe he likes it being like this so he can run a business or something of the like. I am sure there are reasons for this that we are not aware of. Drew |

It could just reinforce I don't understand the business, Drew. I just know if my boss fired and rehired me continuously it would be hard for me to hold my head up.
Security! We all love security! Where is his? |

But I wish someone would enlighten me how some of these CHL players can afford to hang around after they've been waived. In the NHL theres an affiliate option for role players who move in and out of the rosters. Last time I checked, you still have pay to play in the local beer leagues.

I will remove my tongue from cheek and try to be more precise than post number one. I agree. I would believe he was told he would get playing time if he hung around. If he got picked up ok and if not he would get time, exposure, and a chance to play a pro sport. There is some agreement that keeps him in food and a place to stay or someone is being nice. I have not looked but if Canadian there is something which allows him to stay down for a while. We have always had a few like him thank goodness and a goalie I remember too. It allows us to keep a near full if not full bench that we all griped about remember!

There is a reason why he is here and stay around that is for sure. I don't know those reasons and honestly don't believe it is my business to know. My business is to see how he helps our team and I believe he does and does it well. As a fan, I am glad to see him around.
As far as him not having security, well I think he has it whether or not we understand it. John, I understand your statement about being fired and rehired, but this is not much different than many other professions. Think about how construction workers, contractors (being in IT that do temp work), seasonal help (about that time for retail stores to hire up), etc. Really minor league players are not that different, that is why it is so hard for many to stay at it past a few years. It is very unstable work really. They are trying to play out their dreams, and lucky for us Chad is sticking with it for now. Drew |
