Anyone want to flame volleyball?

Ha! I was definitely going to leave that one alone. I'm actually glad that NyTEX will be able to maximize
the use of the arena. If their business is good, we have a place to play. And they're more likely to be successful with volleyball then with NBA D League
activity. |

Volleyball...great sport.
Didn't realize they played indoors anymore, thought it was all on the beach now.

It would have been more fun for them to leave up the ice and let the volleyballers go at it. I might actually have paid an admission at least once. |

Volleyball is actually very popular. With high schools, volleyball is unbelievable with young girls. Club volleyball is alot like select baseball for the
boys. My youngest daughter played club when she was in high school and they travel everywhere to play in tournaments and competition. They had team play in the
big tournament in Dallas from all over the United States. There were on average over 50 to 75 courts set up in the Dallas convention center and there were
games going on from dawn to dusk for a three to four day tournament. It was awesome.

Anyone have any idea though why the press release was on www.brahmas.com? Seems kinda strange to me to list this on their
website.
TEJAS VOLLEYBALL JOINS NYTEX SPORTS CENTRE

I do agree that youth vball is big. I have two cousins that were in select leagues throughout their jr high and high school years. The following is very similar to youth soccer and the select leagues. There has always been a number of adult leagues available as well. A great move for the NYTEX facility, not really sure though how this helps/benefits the Brahmas? Drew |

Let us think a minute... Teen aged girls and young hockey players ??? October through the winter? Then all the special clinics. May need some crossing guards,
eh ?
And then why? This is a combined company not one leasing venues from another one. It looks like what we were saying about the "under water" CATS Baseball. They have a place without tax payer or city strings where they can do most anything they wish as long as it helps pay the bills and makes money. Might see Crager Mags for sale in the pro shop. BIG Smile. Best in inside non-beach volleyball and hockey Westy

Same here Drew. What does vball have to do with hockey??? Maybe nytex should have a website of its own, so they can announce all this other stuff they do.

Actually NYTEX does have their own website:
_____________________________________________________________________ Then why do they put non-hockey news items on Brahmas.com? It's no big deal but just curious. |

I think that NYTEX has a few opportunties for improvement when it comes to communication. Right now they seem to rely on the "grapevine" a lot in
addition to the Brahmas PR efforts. The NYTEX website is lacking a lot of content. Their events calendar is pretty pathetic. They have a lot of hockey
activities going on and even a Saturday public skate. However, if you ask most people around here you would not even know the facility is open. Hopefully, they
will correct this deficiency soon.

However, if you ask most people around here you would not even know the facility is open. This is an extremely interesting comment from someone that is in that area everyday. All I have heard from day one is how the city is buzzing with this new facility and the Brahmas being there specifically. I would guess this is a perception from a few that are closer to the situation than they realize. Yes, all of us know what is going on, but does the guy working at the store down the street know or the single mom trying to find an affordable place for her child to skate know? This kind of stuff takes time and one of the largest pitfalls is thinking that you have reached more people than you really have. Advertising is a tricky business and getting people to your business is even harder at times depeding on your audience. I just hope that things are as peachy as some think it is... Drew |

We ate at one of the sanwich places just around the corner during seat selection and then again the other day. The owner and manager have walls with sports
stuff from the HS teams and colleges, like Applebees. They were still waiting to hear something from the rink and the club. They have a wall waiting. They did
not know there was an old facility or that it was being reopened. Two other buisnesses in the same block said the same thing. They were hoping for some before
or after game business. I guess it is still early but the bloom will fast be off the rose. I am guess they are way short of staff and one shortage would be PR
with the locals non hockey, non vball.
Best in hope they get it right and find their "glad hand" hockey Westy

Yep. We have found few businesses in the area who know about nytex, nee blue line, or Brahmas hockey. Someone has their work cut out.
