Quality game. Hard fought both ways. Tap. Tap.
If you're not living on the edge - you're taking up too much space.

Sounds like a great game.....wish I had been there to see it. No doubt the rest of the season between the Bugs/Bulls will be something to see.

I wouldn't call it a great game - both teams appeared to play with caution, afraid to be the first one to make a mistake. Both were evenly matched, and the
tending was superb. Godoy's injury looked bad. Hope he didn't tear up a knee. Know how the Bugs fans must of felt when their team was ill and not up to
full strength. We were without MacSween, Laurila, Thompson and Cody last night. Pull for the bugs to take the queens!

I guess if you like end to end action and lots of goals, it was not a great game. Don't think that will happen with these two coaches at the helm. Both
think along the same lines of "offense will get you goals, defense will win you games". I really have learned to enjoy the mid ice action. The speed
of the transition of the Mudbug team, if let go unchecked is phenominal. That didnt occur too many times last night. Kudos to the Brahmas! Also give Shep time
with the puck and he will beat ANY tender...that too did not occur often last night...kudos to the Bugs. Anyway, great game played with respect for each others
teams. I enjoyed it!

I didn't mean to imply I didn't enjoy the game. It was exciting, in spite of the usual dumb calls by the ref. Have they never heard of a hip check??
Speaking of Sheppard, bugs fans have been saying bang him around some and he will quit playing. I noticed last night he did his own banging and used his stick
some. He is tougher than some think.
"I really have learned to enjoy the mid ice action." hickorytree The mid ice action I saw on the Bugs part consisted mostly of holding and obstructing. They have become quite good at it. The bugs know they can bend the rules by obstructing/holding on EVERY single offensive rush by the opponents when they head towards the offensive zone/blue line. Good hockey or cheating?

if it works and no one gets hurt, and its not called, IMO its good hockey.

Whoa...dont even go there! The interference that was permited in front of the Bulls net was bordering on rape! Guess it depends on what the ref is and isnt
allowing that particular night...and that too is part of the game...reading the ref...In this league a HUGE part of the game.

BUGS game - They sure liked to blow up CAMPBELL'S FIRST GOAL of the season. It was an empty netter....They should have concentrated on his winning of face
offs. Do you think if there was a forward on our team with no goals yet, Would they be on the team by now or would they be gone???
Campbell is a great guy, please don't get me wrong, but 1 goal at this time of year??? |

When a guy is winning about 70% of the defensive zone draws he takes? Are you enough of a hockey neophyte to not know how valuable that is?
"Do you think if there was a forward on our team with no goals yet, Would they be on the team by now or would they be gone???" He is playing for a team that is winning right at 80% of it's games. I think Musky is a better evaluator of talent than most. Look at his record with a team mostly of non-allstars year in and year out. There are many other factors that go into making a winning team. Soupy doesn't require a visa, doesn't cost as much as many vets would, wins a majority of his face-offs, is great on the PK, and is great in the room.

Hey Fast Cars: You missed my point: I stated they blew up the Campbell empty netter instead of concentrating on his winning face offs.... And yes, I do know how important face offs are and other important plays of the game. If a player this time of year like Soupy gets his first goal of the season, and an empty netter at that, I would rather the press concentrate on his brillant face off wins instead of my first goal of the Season...that is what I was trying to say... |

Geeze don't you just love to watch relatives fight! Folks this has been a long time coming. Dan learned his trade from the "Best" depending on
how you see things. Everyone knows what makes the Bugs a great team and how the coach coaches it. The other top teams do it too and Wayne Bonnie and the league
lets it go. Detroit has made their living on much the same stuff. If rape was occurring in front of the outstanding Bugs goalie then the blind officiating crew
was just as normal for that crime as anything else. What you actually are watching is what the head of officials and League President thinks is good hockey and
a great product. It is what they believe the team owners and fans want. Do you like clutch and grab hockey. Do you like holding and interference. It is a
tactic and taught. It works and if it goes uncalled then I guess that is what you want. At least that is the message these posters from Bossier have said in so
many words. The whole thing amazes me and they have no clue as to how many years most of us have been watching. Although they seem not to know it hockey did
not start in Shreveport and neither did their team.
The opposite would be for all crimes called and the game would be boring and/or very choppy. What do you really want. Might need to learn to play the game allowed... Is all they are saying. Best in holdin' hockey Westy "Amazing its always better and you can be in much better spirits when you win!"

yep, yep. everyone knows that you can get away with a lot more stuff when cruikshank is the ref than when floru is the ref. you gotta expect the man who draws
up the gameplan knows that too.

Met lots of you and know many that are long in the tooth that live there. Since I acknowledged your experience and assume your prowess previously the arguement
only goes one way. It was just the condesceding way somethings were being explained and the other person informing us he/she was an algebra teacher. I too have
been a teacher, principal, director, assistant supt. and Superintendent of schools plus been involved in lots a lot of hockey "of all kinds" (big
smile). The snowbirds, and Northern outcasts show up down here all the time. Its a way of life and we are proud of every dollar they bring.

I've only been involved in one way or another with hockey since the late 40's, so what do I know? Butch24 has worked in hockey at every management
level going back to the days of the 1944 Fort Worth Rangers. He has seen it all. Westy - make that Dr. Westy - has more pure hockey knowledge than just about
any poster on this board. Want a lecture? He can give you one - on just about any subject. Now please tell me how many years some Bossier posters have watched
hockey. (BIG flame, BIG smile)

I really enjoyed the game the other night until the puck seemed to be pushed under Cash's pads as the Bugs ran the net. A real shame they let them get
in there unchecked but that is the game. After that, it was the lock and our guys even with some good chances could not over come. At that point it was a good
game but not a great game, which what we get with a win. I assume it would be the same for the Bugs fans.

Well only came on here to congradulate all for what I thought was a good game. Still think so. Best in hockey for the rest of the year!

Wasn't questioning anyone's hockey knowledge other than the poster that was wondering why Campbell was on the Mudbugs. Never claimed to have any more
knowledge than anyone else. That being said, longevity is not always a sign of knowledge.
The reason is obviously not for his goal scoring prowess, so the players and fans were excited that Soupy was able to get a goal, albeit and empty netter. |

Longevity may not always be a sign of knowledge but it's a pretty good indicator.
