I admit, it has been quite a while since I last was on the board, but that's what happens when you have two little Brahmas fans in your barn. But believe
me, I peek at it now and again. I have to say, it is such a delight to have Bugs fans posting! Nothing better than having the dreaded Bugs fans chewing their
fingernails and sweating a meeting with the Brahmas! It's about time! From what I can tell, all the rumors and innuendo being thrown around about the
Brahmas playing dirty is proof positive the Bugs fans are afraid. Championship-caliber teams get that alot. Just ask a Dallas Cowboy from the early 90's.

Me being an ex-bugs fan (and I still love my bugs and always will), I am appalled and disappointed at what Mudbug fans are saying about Dan. I've known Dan
for every year he played with the Bugs and I know that all players and fans (except Bug fans) hated Dan and gave him the nickname of "The Pest"
because that was his trademark. I also know that every coach in the league respected Dan and would have gladly wanted him as a player on their team. Now that
Dan is coaching and using exactly what he learned from his coach (Scott), Bug fans think he is a bast### and putting a dirty team out on the ice trying to
injure players. If you are a true Mudbug fan there is just no way you can honestly believe this.
I watched the Friday night game on the Internet and was listening to the Mudbug announcer. One of the Mudbugs (Brett Smith) was doing the commentary with the announcer and when the knee-to-knee hit took place, Brett and the announcer both said they did not see it as intentional. Brett Smith said he knew Tyler and that Tyler did not play like that. He also said that 9 times out of 10 when you try to make it intentional, both players would get hurt. I am sick and tired of Mudbug fans running down the Brahmas for playing hard, tough hockey so that they can make the playoffs. If the Mudbugs were in this position, they would be playing the same way because that is the way Scotty plays hockey.  |

Well said Baby face...so true with some nasty comments. There is more behind the scenes than some realize and it is not Dan sending players out. If they look
at the whole picture, you have McConnell a Rookie with low penalty minutes. Why would Dan send him out to spear Brassard.... McConnell is not a chippy player.
Congrats on your accomplishments this year in Mudbug land...

I am not aware of Coach sending any player out with the mission of injury. They do play man to man and if Dan needs some one contained he will send him and if
he does not contain him he does get upset and point or at least upset for Dan. The pointing has nothing to do with taking a man out or hurting him. That is not
what I hear about Dan's old boss in the Cajun villiage. Its really hard for me to understand downing a player/coach or explayers you once revelled in
unless you never really liked their play on your team to start with. Minor league hockey is moving hockey your star today is someone else's tomorrow. Its
just part of the game.

Hey Westy - I have been trying to understand how these "avid mudbug fans" can love Dan one minute and hate him the next. I have been posting on this
board and on the Bug board that all these Dan bashers don't know him as a person. If they don't like his style of hockey, then let them stop and think
who taught him - Musky. He is not that kind of coach and unless and until he comes up to me and tells me he sends players out on the ice to deliberately take a
player out and hurt him, then I will continue to defend him and believe what others keep saying about Mudbug fans - they seem to need someone to blame.

I never knew folks that hated Dan as a player. He would have something he could bring as a player that could score that goal that would win games. Yes it sent
us home many nights without a win but it rarely his fault we normally had a team ready to play or fight each other not the team visiting on the ice. I may have
missed it but these guys genuinely look like they care about each other and help each other succeed. I love both goalies work but they push each other, they
compete. It has been forever since we have seen that. The players all want ice time what a change for us!
From a previous poster I was told I knew nothing of the game. I believe he/she said I could not diagram a play or match lines. I really won't get into that. I am a fan of the game and I know success. I also know a class player and a class coach. We all prayed Dan could convert his talent. It has only been a year but he is well on his way to success. And I have loved watching him grow. My job is people and human development, I just love it when I can watch something special like this happen. Best in hockey Westy

i found myself hating dan more than i've ever hated any riverking or steelhound or buck back on friday night. but since he had been such a beloved figure
over here for so long i decided to give him a 2nd chance. meanwhile i also imagined all of the old wildfong haters making the comments similar to baby face
bugs, about the bugs fans loving dan 1 year and hating him the next......so i decided i would try to not hate him, try to come to my senses, kinda.
as a player he was pesky and "dirty".... which i didnt have a problem with, b/c it was an affective strategy for him. now as a coach, i think it makes since that he would have the same strategy, and to avoid being a hypocrite, i dont have a problem with it now.....and really, it was an affective strategy on friday. so, i don't "hate" dan. its an odd feeling i have towards him now, though. im certainly not happy he has beaten us a bunch this year, but i also am very happy for him that he's doing as well as he is, and that y'all look set to make a run deep into the playoffs. and there is a little bit of truth about us "being scared, and worried about playing the brahmas" but dang, thats really what its all about. rivalries make every sport much better. 2 or 3 years ago the mudbugs won the division a good month before the end of the season, and won the season series against every "rival" very easily, and as great as all those wins were, it made for a very uninteresting end of the season....... i can tell you i'd rather not be as comfortable about beating rivals. its a lot more fun the way it is now.

Westy I don't know who said that but they obviously don't know Dr. Westy. I suspect Westy would be a very successful coach had he chosen that as his career instead of educating our youth. Coaching is education as well. Dan is a teacher/motivator. Maybe I will call him Dr. Dan. |

I am proud to know you atobug. You now know the game and not just the team. At 40 years I seen my favs come and go, be mine and someone elses best. For the
love of the game, the feeling does change, but the memories of the player/coach and all the great times stay warm and toasty after all the rest is gone. Its
being there and part of something special to you and them. Its the part we play as a FAN! Your welcome next to me any game!
